What if three of America’s cutest babies were suddenly and magically transformed into three tiny German dictators?

That’s what FOX executive Gary Zuckerman was asked to ponder during a fateful pitch meeting with Baby Hitlers creator Don Harrelson Jr. back in 1987. Ignoring the advice of others at the network, Zimmerman bought Harrelson’s pilot script for a then-record $2 million. Before long a pilot was shot, starring Night Court’s Harry Anderson as Joey, a single dad with three tiny problems.

After outrage from dozens of Jewish groups, the anti-Defamation League, the NAACP, the National Organization of Women, PETA, the AFL/CIO, KPMG, The Watchtower, The United Negro College Fund, NAMBLA, and every single FOX affiliate except for WPCL of Pensacola, Florida, Baby Hitlers was put on hold indefinitely.

Footage from the pilot was later re-edited and transformed into the hit feature film Look Who’s Talking.
